Mailchimp Setup Guide
Set up Mailchimp to collect emails and send newsletters from your website
Mailchimp is the most popular email marketing platform. Free plan allows up to 500 subscribers and 1,000 emails/month. Build your email list, send beautiful newsletters, and automate follow-ups.
Step 1: Create Your Mailchimp Account
1 Go to mailchimp.com
2 Click "Sign Up Free" and create your account
3 Complete the setup wizard with your business info
Step 2: Create Your Audience
1 Go to "Audience" in the left menu
2 Your first audience is created automatically
3 Click "Settings" > "Audience name and defaults" to customize:
- Audience name: e.g., "Newsletter Subscribers"
- From email: Your business email
- From name: Your business name
Step 3: Create a Signup Form
1 Go to "Audience" > "Signup forms"
2 Choose "Embedded forms" for your website
3 Select form style:
- Classic: Simple form with email field
- Condensed: Compact horizontal form
- Unstyled: Just the form (I'll style it to match your site)
4 Customize what fields to show (email is required, name is optional)
Step 4: Get Your Embed Code
1 After customizing your form, scroll down to "Copy/paste onto your site"
2 Click "Copy Code"
3 Send this code to me and I'll add it to your website
Step 5: Set Up a Welcome Email (Optional)
1 Go to "Automations" > "Create Automation"
2 Choose "Welcome new subscribers"
3 Design your welcome email:
- Thank them for subscribing
- Introduce your business
- Offer a discount or special content
4 Turn on the automation
