Square Setup Guide

Everything you need to start accepting payments with Square

Why Square?
Square is perfect for small businesses. No monthly fees, easy setup, and you can accept payments online, in-person, or both. Processing fee: 2.6% + 10¢ per transaction.

Step 1: Create Your Square Account

1 Go to squareup.com

2 Click "Get Started" in the top right

3 Enter your email and create a password

4 Fill in your business information:

5 Link your bank account for deposits

Step 2: Set Up Your Products/Services

1 From your Square Dashboard, go to Items & Services

2 Click Create an Item

3 Add your products or services:

4 Repeat for all items you want to sell

Step 3: Create Payment Links

1 Go to OnlineCheckout Links

2 Click Create Link

3 Choose what type:

4 Configure the details and click Create Link

5 Copy the link - this is what we'll add to your website!

What to Send Me:
Once you've created your payment links, send me:
• The payment link URL(s)
• What button text you want (e.g., "Book Now", "Pay Deposit", "Buy Now")

Step 4: Set Up Square Online (Optional)

If you want a full shopping cart experience, Square offers a free online store:

1 Go to OnlineOnline Store

2 Follow the setup wizard

3 Add your products

4 I can embed this store directly into your website

Additional Features

Invoicing

Send professional invoices to clients: Dashboard → Invoices → Create Invoice

Appointments

If you're a service business, Square Appointments lets customers book online: Dashboard → Appointments

Gift Cards

Sell digital gift cards: Dashboard → Gift Cards
